Outdoor living

Outdoor Audio, TV & Landscape Lighting in Orange County

Music, TV, lighting, and Wi-Fi that reach the patio, the pool, and the far corner of the yard, built to handle Southern California sun and coastal air.

In Orange County, the backyard is a second living room.

Most of the year, it's where people actually spend their evenings. Music, TV, lighting, and Wi-Fi should work as well out there as they do inside, and hold up to sun, salt air, and sprinklers while they do it.

Available options

  • Outdoor speaker systems, including landscape speakers and in ground subwoofers
  • Outdoor rated TVs for full sun, partial sun, and covered patios
  • Landscape and exterior lighting on scenes and schedules
  • Outdoor Wi-Fi access points for the patio, pool, and yard
  • Exterior security cameras
  • Control from your phone, a keypad by the back door, and the same app as the house
  • Conduit and wire planning with your landscape designer and builder

One evening, start to finish

What a well built backyard does on its own

  1. 4:00 pm

The game is on, even in full sun.

An outdoor TV made for direct sun is bright enough to watch in the afternoon. Indoor TVs wash out, and they fail years early outside, even under a covered patio.

  2. Sunset

The lights come on by themselves.

The system knows sunset for your address every day of the year. Path lights, uplights on the trees and palms, and the lights on the house come up without anyone touching a switch.

  3. 7:30 pm

    Music everywhere, loud nowhere.

Small speakers spread around the yard and a subwoofer buried in the ground fill the space evenly. It sounds full at the pool and at the fire pit, and it doesn't carry over the fence.

  4. 8:15 pm

    Everyone stays connected.

Outdoor access points wired back to the network keep phones, speakers, and streaming working at the far end of the yard, not just by the back door.

  5. 10:30 pm

The yard winds down on schedule.

The music drops to a lower volume, the entertaining lights dim, and security lighting takes over.

  6. 2:00 am

    The side yard is covered.

Wired exterior cameras watch the yard, the side yards, and every way in, and they don't depend on Wi-Fi to record.

Sun, salt, and sprinklers

Sun

Southern California sun fades and cracks plastic and washes out screens. TVs, speakers, and fixtures have to be rated for it, and the TV has to be bright enough for the spot it's in.

Salt

Near the coast, salt air corrodes metal and connections. Coastal homes get equipment rated for marine environments, stainless hardware, and sealed connections.

Sprinklers

Sprinklers hit equipment every morning. Everything is mounted and sealed so water drains away from it, not into it.

One rule we don't break: no indoor TVs or speakers outside, even under a covered patio.

Where to start

From the patio to the whole yard

Most people start with the patio. Some want the whole property done at once. If you're redoing the landscaping, that's the time to plan all of it.

01

The patio

Best for
A covered patio or outdoor living room where you want TV, music, and good Wi-Fi.
What's included
An outdoor rated TV, patio speakers, an outdoor access point, and control from your phone and the house system.
Keep in mind
Covers the patio, not the whole yard. Easy to expand later.

02

The whole yard

Best for
Homes that entertain outside and want every part of the yard covered.
What's included
Landscape speakers and subwoofers in zones, outdoor TV, landscape lighting, outdoor Wi-Fi, and cameras, all on one app with scenes like Entertaining and Late Night.
Keep in mind
Small trenches for wire, routed along planters and hardscape edges to keep disruption low.

03

New landscape or remodel

Best for
New construction, or a yard that's being redesigned.
What's included
Speaker, light, TV, camera, and access point locations planned with your landscape designer, and conduit placed before concrete and planting.
Keep in mind
The best result and the lowest cost, but it has to be planned before the hardscape goes in.

The details

What makes or breaks it

  • Pick the TV for the light, not the size. The brighter the spot, the brighter the TV has to be.
  • Plan the TV around the sun. Face it away from the afternoon sun, where people can see it from the seating and the pool.
  • Don't rely on the TV's speakers. Tie the TV into the outdoor audio so dialogue is clear across the patio.
  • Warm light looks better outdoors. Warm reads as inviting. Cool, bright light reads as a parking lot.
  • Zones and schedules. The pool can be louder than the patio, and late night volume stays in check.
  • Conduit before concrete. Once the hardscape is poured, running wire gets expensive.
Cost

Where the money goes

  • Size of the yard and number of zones. More area means more speakers, lights, and wire.
  • TV brightness. Full sun TVs cost more than covered patio models.
  • Trenching and conduit. An existing yard takes more labor than a yard being built.
  • Number of light fixtures. Every path light, uplight, and wall light adds up.
  • Cameras and Wi-Fi. How much of the property you want covered.
  • Integration. Tying it all into the house system and programming scenes.
Before the walkthrough

Questions worth answering first

Book a walkthrough
  1. Where do you actually spend time outside: the patio, the pool, a fire pit, the lawn?
  2. Do you want to watch games or movies outside, or mostly music?
  3. How close are your neighbors?
  4. Does your Wi-Fi work anywhere in the yard today?
  5. Is new landscaping, hardscape, or a remodel coming up?
  6. Are you near the coast?
Our approach

How we do it

We walk the yard with you, ideally around the time you'd actually be out there. We plan speaker, light, TV, camera, and access point locations around how you entertain, coordinate wire paths with your landscape designer, install everything with outdoor rated equipment, and tie it into the same app as the house.

Built for the outdoors

Outdoor rated TVs, speakers, lights, and access points that handle sun, salt, and sprinklers.

Even sound, happy neighbors

Many small speakers and a buried subwoofer instead of two loud ones on the wall.

Hidden wire

Wire runs planned along planters and hardscape, or in conduit before the concrete is poured.

Lighting on autopilot

On at sunset, off when you want, with scenes for entertaining and security.

One app for the whole property

The yard runs on the same system as the house.

Support after the install

Remote monitoring and service when something needs attention.

How we work

From first walkthrough to a system you actually use

High-ticket work goes wrong when nobody explains what happens next. Here is exactly how a project runs, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Consultation

Whether you have an existing home or are building a new space, our unique line of questioning draws out your lifestyle and how you'll actually live in the space. From there, we establish how we can enhance your home and optimize the living experience.

  2. 02

    Design & proposal

You get a designed system with a written proposal: what goes where, what it does, and what it looks like. Theaters include a 3D model, so you see the finished room before anything is built.

  3. 03

    Installation

We work with your builder, electrician, and designer to ensure a smooth, cohesive execution. Cables are run neatly and properly, speakers are placed precisely in relation to lights and other fixtures, everything is straight and level, and racks are built to be serviced. The job site is left better than we found it.

  4. 04

    Programming & calibration

Scenes are built around your routine and customized for the time of day. Video is calibrated to show what the director intended you to see. Audio is measured and tuned for peak performance. It's a step many rush through; we take our time.

  5. 05

    Training & support

We sit down with you and everyone in the household to make sure everyone knows how to drive it. Then we stay reachable with remote monitoring and support, because sometimes things get forgotten.

Questions

Outdoor Living, answered

Straight answers to what people actually ask before starting a project like this.

Can I use a regular TV under a covered patio?

We don't recommend it. Even under cover, heat, humidity, dust, and bugs get into an indoor TV and shorten its life. Outdoor TVs made for covered patios are sealed against all of that.

Will outdoor speakers bother my neighbors?

Not when they're designed right. Spreading several smaller speakers around the yard lets each one play quietly, so the music sounds full where you are without carrying over the fence. Schedules can also lower the volume late at night.

Do you have to dig up my yard?

Usually only small, narrow trenches, routed along planters and hardscape edges to keep disruption low. If landscaping or hardscape work is planned, we place conduit before it goes in.

How does outdoor equipment hold up near the ocean?

Salt air is hard on electronics and metal. Near the coast, we use equipment rated for marine environments and stainless hardware, and we seal every connection.

Can the landscape lights turn on by themselves?

Yes. The system knows sunset for your location every day of the year, so the lights come on at dusk and turn off on the schedule you choose.

Can I get Wi-Fi at the far end of a big lot?

Yes. Outdoor access points are wired back to your network. On very long runs, we use cable rated for burial or fiber to reach the far corners of the property.

Can I control everything from my house system?

Yes. Outdoor audio, TV, lighting, and cameras run on the same app and keypads as the rest of the house.

What clients say

“I had the pleasure of working with Ashkan on multiple AV installations in the past 10+ years. His team performed a complete update of the media room which includes a multi-screen projection home theater, music server, whole house audio, dedicated 2Ch HiFi system, as well as Crestron automation for AV, lighting & shades. The most recent project is a second HT AV system for the family room/kitchen remodel. It's a complex installation & we're very happy with the job. Ashkan is always professional, responsive & reliable with excellent after sales/installation supports. Highly recommended.”
